અંતરનો અનુભવ અને અત્તરનો અનુવાદ....

માતૃભાષા જેમ સ્વપ્નની ભાષા છે એમ વેદનાની પણ ભાષા છે. કોઈને પીડા થતી હોય ત્યારે એ તમારી સાથે વાત ના કરી શકે અથવા તમે જ્યારે એને મદદ કરવા આતુર હો અને એની ભાષામાં વાત ના કરી 

શકો ત્યારે જે વેદના થાય એનો કોઈ ઉપાય ખરો?

મેડિકલ-વિજ્ઞાને વેદનાને નાથવાનો સાધનાપથ સ્વીકાર્યો છે.

જ્યારે એક દર્દી એક ડૉક્ટર પાસે જાય ત્યારે કૉમ્યુનિકેશન એકબીજાને સમજાય તેવી રીતે થાય તે જરૂરી છે.

 

વડોદરાના બે મિત્રોએ આ માટે બીડું ઝડપ્યું, મેડિકલ-સંજ્ઞાઓના ગુજરાતી ભાષાંતરનો જાણે યજ્ઞ આરંભાયો. 

ડૉ. ચૈતન્ય બુચ અનેક રીતે જાણીતા છે, એમનું ડૉક્ટરી કૌશલ્ય તો ખરું જ, પણ એમની રમૂજવૃત્તિ અને શબ્દોની સાથેનો એમનો ઘરોબો...! એમને મળો એટલે તમે ચાર્જ થઈ જાવ. શબ્દોની શેરીમાં તમને એ 

એવી ચમત્કૃતિ સુધી સહજ રીતે લઈ જાય કે તમે હસી પડો. સાચા અર્થમાં આ આપણા સમાજના ચૈતન્યના ડૉક્ટર છે.

એમણે આ મહાયજ્ઞના યાજ્ઞિક તરીકે ભારે મહેનત અને સંવેદના બતાવી છે. એમને એક અનોખા મિત્ર મળ્યા, જે ભાષાંતરકલાના જાણકાર હોય અને આધુનિક આઈ.ટી.નો આ કાર્ય માટે વિશેષ વિનિયોગ કરી શકે, તે મિત્ર એટલે કેદાર દેસાઈ! કેદારભાઈ એટલે એક એવા ભાષાપ્રેમી જે  ઉત્સાહી, ચીવટવાળા અને આધુનિકતમ ટેક્નૉલૉજીના જાણકાર. એમના વ્યક્તિત્વમાં રાગની વૈજ્ઞાનિકતા અને સૌંદર્ય છલકે છે...જાણે 

ચૈતન્યની જાગૃતિમાં સંગીત ભળ્યું. બન્નેએ માતૃભાષાની સેવા કરવાનું એક અનોખું મિશન ઉપાડ્યું, અને આજે એક શકવર્તી ગ્રંથ ગુજરાતી ભાષાને મળી રહ્યો છે. મને આનો અનહદ આનંદ છે. આ એમના અંતરનો અનુભવ છે, અંતરમાં દર્દીઓ માટેની સંવેદના અને માતૃભાષા પ્રત્યેનું વાત્સલ્ય. આ ગ્રંથ એમના અંતરના અનુભવનો દસ્તાવેજ છે, એમણે નવનીત જેવા ઉપયોગી શબ્દોનો ભાવાનુવાદ કર્યો છે, આ નવનીતમાં જે સુવાસ છે તે એમની નિસ્બતની સુવાસ છે. આ અનુવાદ 'ભાષાનો ભાષામાં' થયેલો છે પણ વાસ્તવમાં આ અત્તરનો અનુવાદ છે. બન્ને મિત્રોને આ મહાન કાર્ય માટે અભિનંદન અને શુભકામનાઓ...

Foreword

 

It gives me immense pleasure to know that a very valuable dictionary of medical 

terms is compiled by Shri Kedar Desai and his team of translators and edited by 

Dr. Chaitanya Buch.

 

Works like this strengthen a language as a “Language of Knowledge”. In addition, the practical benefit of this dictionary to students, practicing doctors as well as 

patients is significant. A work like this takes dedicated effort and commitment 

spread over a number of years.

 

The team fully deserves gratitude of medical fraternity as well as the users of the Gujarati language for this greatly commendable work. As someone interested in 

Indian languages, I would like to extend my profound sense of appreciation and 

felicitation to Shri Kedar Desai.

[Ganesh N. Devy or Devy, Ganesh Narayan Das ( August 01, 1950), formerly professor of English at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, a renowned literary critic and activist and is founder director of the Bhasha Research and Publication Center, Vadodara and Adivasi Academy at Tejgadh, Gujarat established to create a unique educational environment for the study of tribal communities. He led the People's Linguistic Survey of India in 2010, which has researched and documented 780 Living Indian Languages. He was educated at Shivaji University, Kolhapur and the University of Leeds, UK. Among his many academic assignments, he has held fellowships at Leeds University and Yale University and has been a Jawaharlal 

Nehru Fellow (1994–96). 

He is the recipient of the prestigious Padmashree award in 2014.]  - Kedar Desai
